While the global economy is in free fall, we here in the US of A at least have the NCAA basketball championship to amuse and distract us. Sure, it's one of the last remaining dinosaurs of the soon-to-be-extinct-and-desperate-to bankrupt-the-nation-and-ill-educate-our-children media/entertainment complex, but a kinda fun one at that! So, let's play.
I'll offer up these five thoughts:
- Connecticut vs Memphis in the west final will be the best game of the entire tourney (and it will happen, as the rest of the west is horrid - eg full of clumsy Big 10 teams, who eat all that errr garbage (?) that passes for food in Madison and Ann Arbor...)
- There will be four (4) Big East teams in the Final Four (as basketball, if not finance, rewards talent, performance, and experience)
- Attendance will be horrid - Detroit anyone?? What a fine place for a party!
- Ratings equally so - who's gonna really follow Memphis, or Pittsburgh, except for shut-ins (admittedly increasing on a daily basis)?
- Connecticut will win the thang, since it is home to the insurance industry, and the Feds are gonna bail em out in the end....
